Refael Elbaz has served as Vice President of Engineering and Quality at Extal for the past three and a half years. He is married, a father of four, and lives in Elkana. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University and an MBA from the Open University of Israel
Refael began his professional journey as a naval officer in Israel’s submarine fleet, where he gained top-level engineering and leadership skills. He later joined Caterpillar Israel (Zoko Enterprises) as Head of the Engineering and Projects Department, overseeing the establishment of power plants in highly complex engineering and process environments. He then served for six years as VP of Engineering and Quality at Gaash Lighting.
Refael brings an independent, proactive, and pioneering approach to engineering leadership across diverse sectors, including defense, automotive, and most prominently the construction industry — which serves as a key pillar within Extal’s business units.
Under his leadership, the Building Envelope Engineering Division at Extal drives innovation in façade and curtain wall systems, with cutting-edge developments that are quickly and successfully adopted in the Israeli market and beyond
